We cannot get enough of the Sims and that much is already known. The Sims 4 keeps getting new content and rightfully so, it is a great game that will keep us on our toes, satisfied and ready to play more until the Sims 5 are finally here.
As is tradition, Maxis keeps releasing new expansions and game packs and the latest game pack that we got is this one: My Wedding Stories. Here is everything that you should know about it.
The Concept of the Game Pack
The Sims 4 is a great game but the concept of the wedding, what most girls and boys dream about when they fall in love, was missing. Families could be started and marriage was also a possibility, but without a ceremony. That is problematic for a game which is so thorough. That left us with a sour taste, until the pack was released. Then, it was even worse, unfortunately.
The Sims 4: My Wedding Crashers
While the movie is a funny comedy movie, the game pack was not funny. The pack was released with so many bugs that it was basically unplayable. Even with the day 1 patch, the game was never running smoothly.
No wedding would go without a hiccup, or a stutter, not to mention that the sims would simply bug out and you would have to resort to the console to get them out of their invisible rump. If you have to use the console to play the game, then you are either cheating, debugging or playing Skyrim. The pack got better with time, but the launch should have been delayed, like most games were.
Is it Better Now?
If nothing else, Maxis is committed to making the game better, so with every patch, the game pack became better and the game was more playable. However, that doesn’t excuse them from a poor launch.
Imagine planning a wedding, getting all the details ready, planning a bachelor and ladies night party, only to have the game completely bug out and your sims freeze or disappear altogether? That is hardly a good wedding.
Launch Controversies
The pack was not supposed to be launched in Russia, due to controversies surrounding homosexuality and Russia’s apparent laws which prohibit promoting homosexuality in video games. After intense fan backlash, EA caved in and the pack was launched in Russia in its original state, without any censorship.
All in all, My Wedding Stories could have been a great game pack, if it were released a month or two later. It is getting better but its poor launch and many ruined weddings, not to mention the launch controversy, have left fans unsatisfied to say the least.
